  Bio: Yuanwei Liu (S’13–M’16–SM’19, http://www.eecs.qmul.ac.uk/~yuanwei) received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications in 2011 and 2014, respectively, and the PhD degree in electrical engineering from the Queen Mary University of London, U.K., in 2016. He was with the Department of Informatics, King’s College London, from 2016 to 2017, where he was a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow. He has been a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) with the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, Queen Mary University of London, since Aug. 2021, where he was a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) from 2017 to 2021. His research interests include non-orthogonal multiple access, 5G/6G networks, machine learning, and stochastic geometry.

  Yuanwei Liu is listed as a Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate in 2021. He received IEEE ComSoc Outstanding Young Researcher Award for EMEA in 2020. He received the 2020 Early Achievement Award of the IEEE Signal Processing and Computing for Communications (SPCC) Technical Committee,2021 Early Achievement Award of IEEE Communication Theory Technical Committee. He received the Exemplary Reviewer Certificate of IEEE Wireless Communications Letters in 2015, IEEE Transactions on Communications in 2016 and 2017, and IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications in 2017 and 2018. Yuanwei Liu is currently a Senior Editor of IEEE Communications Letters, an Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications and the IEEE Transactions on Communications. He serves as the leading Guest Editor for IEEE JSAC special issue on Next Generation Multiple Access, a Guest Editor for IEEE JSTSP special issue on Signal Processing Advances for Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access in Next Generation Wireless Networks. He has served as the Publicity Co-Chair for VTC 2019-Fall. He is the leading contributor for “Best Readings for Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA)” and the primary contributor for “Best Readings for Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS)”. About the position:

  We have a vacancy for a PhD fellowship in Interaction Design, the goal is a completed doctoral education up to an obtained doctoral degree.

  The position is one of the four PhD fellowships belonging to a university-wide project called SWELL (Sustainable Built Environments for better Health and WELL-being). SWELL’s goal is to address the complex interaction between individual Humans’ HWB (health wellbeing) and the Built Environment (BE). Through new theoretical and empirical foundations by exploring and improving sustainable and adaptable BE (e.g. through technological and space innovations), this project will provide knowledge that allows for better HWB for individuals and societies. Interdisciplinary, cross-professional and multi-sector collaboration and Urban Living Labs (ULL) methodology will be employed as powerful vehicles for achieving greater social and economic goals.

  This particular PhD fellowship will focus on Empowering Human-BE Interaction Working Package (WP). This research aims to leverage advancements in sensing and ubiquitous systems to address how physical, spatial, and social design opportunities (e.g., through interactive functionalities and visualizations) can contribute to increasing liveability in BE and environmental, economic and social benefits. The implementation of this WP includes collecting requirements from the stakeholders on what interactions need to be strengthened, integrating the extracted requirements into services, prototyping the necessary interfaces/software, and iteratively testing via case studies. The development of these components entails careful consideration and interdisciplinary work (collaboration with the other 3 PhD fellowships and teams from the healthcare and urban design domains), on how the requirements, design insights and capabilities (e.g., visualizations, gamification) will be incorporated.

  As the academic home of some of the most eminent economists of the last two centuries such as Léon Walras and Vilfredo Pareto, the University of Lausanne has a distinguished history of scholarship in economics and aspires to remain a leading center for economic research and learning.
